Andrea Tasi grew up in Annapolis, Maryland in a home filled with cats, dogs, fish, birds and the occasional rescued squirrel. After undergraduate studies in biology at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, she attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1988. After several years of general small animal practice in Chicago, she moved back to the East Coast in 1991 to pursue her goal of feline-exclusive practice, and has been working with “cats only” since then. Frustrated by the increasing numbers of chronically ill cats she was seeing (skin allergies, diabetes, bladder and kidney problems, inflammatory bowel disease, etc.), Dr. Tasi began to look for ways to address many of these illnesses without turning to conventional drugs, which had their own risks of side effects and were often difficult to administer long-term. Classical homeopathy, with its approach of using naturally derived medicines to gently stimulate the body’s own healing capacity, seemed to be the perfect fit.

Dr. Tasi’s training in homeopathy began with Dr. Richard Pitcairn, the “father” of veterinary homeopathy in the United States, and author of the classic Dr. Pitcairn’s Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs & Cats . She completed both his Professional and Advanced Courses in Veterinary Homeopathy. Dr. Tasi did further advanced study with Nicola Henriques, a Hahnemannian homeopathic practitioner and educator, and author of Release the Vital Force and Crossroads to Cure.

Just Cats, Naturally opened in 2008, allowing Dr. Tasi to pursue homeopathic practice exclusively. A housecall-based practice provides the best opportunity for Dr. Tasi to truly get to know her feline patients (and their people), by seeing them in their home environments. In addition to her homeopathic practice, Dr. Tasi lectures frequently on a variety of feline health and behavior topics, as she enjoys empowering people to take better care of their feline companions, through deeper understanding of who cats are and what they need to stay healthy and happy.

Dr. Tasi lives in Fairfax Station, VA, with her husband Roger and their family of six cats: Polly, Margaux, Buggy, Jim, Peggy Sue, and Fifi.
